如果您收到有関電話區號809的電子郵件，恭喜发財，尽管您岀于一片好意，但请不要轉寄给朋友及其它人,因为這只是連鎖郵件垃圾。当然也不必惊慌，垃圾郵件而已，删掉并可。若您是把這電子郵件轉寄给我的那个朋友，请记住，下次見面时，您非请我吃"九大鬼"不可！

809其实是多米尼瓜共和國(Dominican Republic)的電話區號，但809門的诈骗其实是在相邻的海地(Haiti). 八十年代，美國增设大量新電話區號，人们見到809電話區號，以为只是美國内某新電話區號，不会有戒心，於是不法之徒并在海地与多米尼瓜共和國边界开设以809为區號的電話服务，一定要在海地境内，因为海地没有相関法例管制電讯而多米尼瓜有相関法例管制電讯却苦于鞭长莫及。不法之徒在電話留言上留下他们的以809为電話區號的號码引人落撘，上钓者回拨后接通并被置于长时间等待状态。。。以至電話帐单吃上每分钟$25的高额收费！

1996年左右，岀现一个由 scambuster.org 发岀的電子郵件，发岀对809區號及加勒比海區號的诈骗警告，原是善意電子郵件，但很快衍成連鎖郵件，并出現不同版本。

連鎖郵件，這不是什么新鲜玩艺兒。我们还读红衛时就收到过連鎖郵件，内容早忘了，但信中要收件人将信抄15份，寄给15个不同的人，不然的话就会招俫無妄之灾。。。等等。。。当然的确很害怕，怕不照办会有事，但想照办，单15个8分邮票就成难题，菠萝包才6分银个，成个月早餐费。。。在即时之灾和未来之灾之间，选择了"不寄"。。。

今时今日，連鎖郵件以電子郵件形式，人们连邮票都不用，自然使得其漫延速度广度以指数倍率辐增。所以，谨借同学网向大家呼吁，请不要转寄連鎖郵件!

老猪，你总是那么消息。那些垃圾电子邮件真是防不胜防。我公司的电子邮电地址被曝光后，每天都收到一些讨厌的邮件。赶不尽，杀不绝。

遠游兄，我只是收到才知有此回事(发给我的朋友，無須为此不安，可谓不知者不罪)。連鎖電子郵件除了是垃圾外，还为病毒传播提供途径。若連鎖链中某个電脑带毒，病毒并会由連鎖電子郵件链传播开去。为己为人，若再收到此类連鎖電子郵件,请让您自已成为那連鎖链最后的一环吧。

Subject: 809 Area Code - PLEASE READ

We actually received a call last
week from the 809 area code. The woman said 'Hey,
this is Karen . Sorry I missed you--get back to us
quickly. I have something important to tell you.' Then
she repeated a phone number beginning with 809 We didn't
respond.
Then this week, we received the following
e-mail:

Do Not DIAL AREA CODE
809,
284, AND
876

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION
PROVIDED TO US BY AT&T. DON'T EVER DIAL AREA CODE
809

This one is being distributed all over the US . This is
pretty scary, especially given the way they try to get
you to call.

Be sure you read this and pass it on.

They get you to call by telling you that it is information about a family
member who has been ill or to tell you someone has been
arrested, died, or to let you know you have won a wonderful prize, etc.
In each case, you are told to call the
809 number right away.. Since there
are so many new area codes these days, people
unknowingly return these calls.

If you call from the U.S. , you will apparently be
charged $2425 per-minute.

Or, you'll get a long recorded message. The point is, they will try
to keep you on the phone as long as possible to increase
the charges.
WHY IT WORKS:

The 809 area code is located in the Dominican Republic .
The charges afterward can become a real
nightmare. That's because you did actually make the
call. If you complain, both your local phone company and
your long distance carrier will not want to get involved
and will most likely tell you that they are simply
providing the billing for the foreign company. You'll
end up dealing with a foreign company that argues they
have done nothing wrong.
